The Antelope

In 1825 The Antelope, a Spanish slave ship, was captured by a privateer and other Africans bound for the slave trade were put on board the ship. Then, the Antelope was captured near Florida under suspicion of trying to illegally sells slaves in U.S. Both Spain and Portugal claimed property in the Africans. Americans sued on behalf of the Africans in favor of their liberty.
